Atlantic Harp Duo Concert
- 10.08.2010
-
September 3rd & 5th, 2010 7PM Windings Clubhouse
To commemorate the bicentennial of composer Frederic Chopin's birth,
harpists Elizabeth Jaxon and Marta Power Luce, of the Atlantic Harp
Duo, present a narrated concert of Chopin's life. Chopin's delicate
and lyrical music has lasted through the centuries as a gem of the
romantic era. Born in Poland, but later exiled due to political
upheaval in his country, Chopin settled in 19th-century France, where
he lived a passionate relationship with novelist George Sand. This
concert takes the listener through the musical culture of Chopin's
era, highlighting composers who were influential to his style, such as
Bach, Handel, and Hummel. The Atlantic Harp Duo originates from the
Great Lakes area and is based in Paris, France. The duo has performed
regularly in both America and Europe for four years.
The concert will be free of charge, but donations are appreciated. - Homepage: http://www.AtlanticHarpDuo.com
